Sounds

The Preferences Sounds Screen is used to set audible alarm sounds for certain OmniVista actions (e.g., UI Inactivity timeout is reached, Notifications Traps are received). Follow the steps below to configure alarm sounds.

Configuring Alarm Sounds

By default, alarm sounds are disabled. To set an alarm sound, slide the Enable button next to the action (UI Inactivity and/or Notifications) to Yes. Pre-configured alarm sounds are provided by OmniVista. You can listen to the sound by clicking on the Play icon next to the sound file name. By default, the volume on all sounds is enabled. However, you can set an alarm sound to silent by clicking on the Volume icon.

To change an alarm sound, click on the Change button and select a sound file on your computer. The new sound file name will appear. After configuring an alarm sound(s), click on the Apply button. The change takes effect immediately.

Note: .wav or .mp3 files are supported, with a maximum file size of 500KB.

UI Inactivity

The UI Inactivity Alarm will sound when the Inactivity Timeout Limit is reached. The Inactivity Timeout Limit is configured on the Preferences Inactivity Timeout Screen (Preferences - User Settings - Inactivity Timeout). The default sound file is displayed. You can change the sound as described above. when you are finished, click on the Apply button at the bottom of the screen.

Notifications

Notifications Alarms will sound when new traps are received. You can enable the same alarm sound for all Trap Severity Levels or enable alarms for specific Severity Levels (e.g., Critical, Major). You can also set different alarm sounds for different Severity Levels.

  • To enable the same alarm sound for all Severity Levels, click on the For All Severity Levels checkbox. You can change the sound as described above.
  • To enable an alarm sound for specific Trap Severity Levels, slide the Enable button to Yes for the Severity Level(s). You can change the sound as described above.
  • To enable and set different alarm sounds for specific Trap Severity Levels, slide the Enable button to Yes for the Severity Level(s), click on the Change button and change the alarm sound as described above.

Note: Alarms will not sound for auto-acknowledged traps.

To restore all sounds to default. click on the Restore Default Sounds button.
